TideMinders® in action (2 sets)

If you’ve ever felt like a bit of a dock-line nanny, constantly monitoring and adjusting lines for tidal changes, high winds or storm surges, this is something you’ll definitely want to check out. This innovative mooring system called TideMinders® allows your piling lines to roll up and down with the tide, at the same time keeping steady tension and absorbing shock. Comprised of a set of nine (9) tunneled plastic balls, the perfected boat mooring design allows line to move freely within the tunnel under any load, preventing any chafing or fraying. Completely self-adjusting, they keep your vessel safe, happy, and secure. (while eliminating your nanny gig altogether)

The installation couldn’t be easier: simply string the set of balls along your existing mooring line, tie two figure eight knots to secure them in place. That’s it! They work on any line up to 1″ in diameter, are completely self-cleaning and even float. Can even be used in tandem with your slip-neighbors for dual protection (see photo). They come in a variety of colors and carry a 10 year warranty.

One of the owners of a vessel in our marina gives these a huge thumbs up after leaving his boat for several months.

I came up with a very easy solution for using Tideminders with square pilings. Using 3/4 ” abs plastic pipe and 1″ abs slip couplings and a simply over hand knot. Cut 3-14″ pieces of pipe, slip a Tideminders ball on one end then a slip coupling followed by another ball, slip coupling, and another ball. Tie an overhand knot on each end to keep the balls from slipping off the pipe. Using 9 balls it covers 3 sides of the piling and works fantastic. The dark grey pipe and spacers looks great with the black balls. I also used the 1″ abs couplings as spacers between the Tideminders balls on larger round pilings reducing the number of balls needed for up to 20″ pilings to 9. I would be happy to send photos and video of the set up and how it works. Great solution versus the old tires we were using in our club. Ed Lynch, San Francisco Yacht Club.
