PredictWind: Wind Forecasting Website

Predict Wind Forecast For Boaters

The Wind. It’s unpredictable, right? Not so, according to PredictWind.com, a marine weather forecasting site that is growing in popularity among boaters of all types.

Created by Jon Bilger, PredictWind provides worldwide detailed weather forecast down to an incredible 0.62 mi (1km) resolution.

It’s become THE choice for winning yacht races and was used by the winner of the last two America’s Cups and by much of the international racing community, but it is also used by other types of water sportsmen and women including kitesurfers, windsurfers and kayakers.

The site offers a free version (simply create an account) or opt for a full-featured paid version. PredictWind uses dual inputs into the model – from CMC (Canadian Meteorological Centre) and GFS (Global Forecast System / NOAA). With two comparative forecasts, when they both agree, a higher degree of confidence in the forecast is attained.
